Knight Park is about to smell like fall again. Ambler Community Garden's Fall Fest is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Knight Park, 38 Church Street, with games, face painting, a garden tour and the second annual scarecrow contest — free, and rain-dated to Oct. 24 if the skies don't cooperate.
I've always liked Ambler for the way Main Street and Butler Avenue feel walkable and neighborly. A Saturday midday that puts kids, scarecrows and a working community garden in the same park is exactly the kind of local afternoon worth putting on the calendar.
According to Wiss Now's Oct. 2, 2026 report and the Elementary Connections listing, Fall Fest runs two hours at Knight Park and includes games, face painting, a community garden tour and voting for the second annual scarecrow contest. Admission is free, per Elementary Connections.
The garden itself dates to 2022, when Ambler Borough Councilwoman Jennifer Henderson told The Reporter that volunteers were donating produce to Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard and Weaver's Way's community refrigerator. The Reporter reported that Backyard Eats built the garden on a tract along Church Street, with help from a $43,000 Montco 2040 grant that covered gardening supplies, a fence and a gate. Early harvests included lettuce, collard greens, radishes, beets, zucchini and squash.
This is a short, family-friendly window — 11 to 1 — that still puts you downtown with time left for Butler Avenue afterward. And because the garden's mission is fresh food for neighbors who need it, showing up and casting a scarecrow vote is a small way to cheer on something that keeps working after the fest ends.
What's still to confirm closer to the day: exact game stations and whether any vendors will be on site. Check Ambler Community Garden's updates if the weather looks iffy; the rain date is Oct. 24.
