The MoTown Turkey Trot Takes Over the 202 Parkway on Thanksgiving

Bucks Co. & Beyond Daily

Runners in winter hats and jackets gather on a city street under a Turkey Trot banner at the 2021 Des Moines Turkey Trot.

Thanksgiving morning in Montgomery Township starts with a race. The 11th annual MoTown Turkey Trot runs on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026, with an 8K, a 5K, a 2-mile fun run/walk and the Gobble-Gobble half-mile kids' fun run. 100% of donations from the event go to the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, according to the race's RunSignUp page.

Early-registration pricing ends Oct. 31, per RunSignUp, so now is the time to sign up the family.

What's on the schedule

Check-in and packet pickup run 6:15 to 7:30 a.m. at Kiddie Academy, according to the race schedule. The 8K starts first, followed by the 5K, the 2-mile run/walk and the kids' run.

The race organizer's description, as listed on Endurance Grid, puts the start at 8 a.m. on the closed US 202 Parkway, with Kiddie Academy at 1020 Horsham Road (it carries a North Wales mailing address) as the host venue. The organizer credits cooperation from Montgomery Township, PennDOT and the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, and notes that last year's race sold out.

Why it's worth showing up

There's a distance for everyone, from the 8K to a half mile for the kids, and you're home in plenty of time to get the turkey in. Running on a closed parkway is also a rare treat.
