A Night With Poe Brings Fireside Readings to Tyler State Park Oct. 24

Bucks Co. & Beyond Daily

Orange flames rise from a stack of burning logs in a campfire against a dark night sky.

Poe by the fire, just in time for Halloween. The Friends of Tyler State Park host A Night with Poe in the Park on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the park's Boathouse Pavilion, according to the DCNR events calendar. It's free, with pre-registration required.

Tyler is the big outdoor draw for Richboro and Holland neighbors, and a fireside evening of Poe is a fun way to see it after dark.

What to expect

John Dern, a Temple University professor, will give dramatic readings of various works by Edgar Allan Poe and answer questions about the writer, per DCNR. The listing describes it as a fireside presentation and asks guests to bring their own chair and a hot drink.

The program is intended for ages 16 and up. Registration is open now and closes at noon the day before the event, so sign up by midday Friday, Oct. 23.

Why it's worth showing up

A free, grown-up Halloween night by a fire in one of Bucks County's biggest parks is hard to beat, and it's a short drive from Richboro and Holland.
