Torresdale's riverfront estate opens its boats to the public. Glen Foerd hosts free open boating on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, from noon to 3 p.m. at 5001 Grant Avenue, with canoes, rowboats and kayaks for exploring parts of the Poquessing Creek and Delaware River, according to Glen Foerd's event listing.
It's one of the easiest ways to see where the creek meets the river from the water, and it costs nothing.
Open boating is a free walk-up, first-come, first-served event, and boat space is limited, per Glen Foerd. Staff will try to get as many people on the water as possible but can't make guarantees. The meeting point is behind the Carriage House.
The activity is open to all ages, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Waivers are filled out on site, and optional registration is used for email updates and weather notices. Glen Foerd notes that getting in and out of a boat can be wet and muddy, so wear clothes that can get dirty and bring a change, plus water and snacks. Events can be canceled on short notice because of weather or river conditions.
