Hope Lodge's 45th Whitemarsh Encampment Returns Nov. 7

Revolutionary War history gets loud again on Bethlehem Pike. Historic Hope Lodge hosts its 45th annual 1777 Whitemarsh Encampment on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 553 South Bethlehem Pike, Fort Washington. Continental and British/Hessian reenactors, living-history demos and two battle windows fill the grounds that once watched Washington's army camp in the Whitemarsh Hills.

Fort Washington straddles Upper Dublin and Whitemarsh townships, and Hope Lodge, on the Whitemarsh side, is where that deep local history still feels real on a fall Saturday.

What's on the schedule

Friends of Hope Lodge list self-guided mansion tours, a children's exhibit on the Watmough family, colonial open-hearth cooking, craft demos, sutlers and food for purchase. Troop camp formations and skirmishes are billed for about 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Appearances can shift, so check the day-of schedule on site.

General admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (65+) and children ages 6–17. Children under 6 and Friends members get in free. Tickets are sold in advance online and at the door (cash, check or card). Rain or shine, no refunds. Questions: 215-646-1595 or [email protected].

Why it's worth showing up

The event marks the Continental Army's Whitemarsh encampment from Nov. 2 to Dec. 11, 1777. A full day of camps, cooking and two reenactment windows is an easy way for kids and adults to see that story outdoors instead of only in a textbook.

If you want tickets ahead of the gate line, use the advance link on Hope Lodge's encampment page.
